C360_2016-01-05-00-30-47-242.jpg

This dish is originated from Central Java (probaby Semarang). The authentic recipe was using pork. Since my family and I don’t eat pork, I am using chicken instead.

* 3 eggs, boiled, take the egg white only, small cut, set aside

* spring onion, sliced

* celery, sliced

* onion, chopped

* garlic, chopped

* salt

* white pepper

* cinnamon powder

* soy ketchup (kecap manis)

* salted ketchup (kecap asin)

* cooking oil for tofu, and for saute

* 300 ml water

Cooking steps:

* sauté garlic, and onion in 2 tablespoons of cooking oil, stir until it smells good

* add chicken cutlets, stir until the chicken meat turns to white

* add fried tofu, stir 1 minute

* add soy ketchup, salted ketchup, and salt

* add water, cook until its boiling point

I will take good care of opa, no worries about opa’s meals. I’ll be watering your plants, cleaning up kitchen after cooking, calling Go Clean to do cleaning the house”.

Jember 2 IMG_20151230_135956_HDR_1451784331010

* Kami berangkat tanggal 26 Desember 2015, jam 06.30.

(http://travel.kompas.com/read/2014/07/26/141900627/Papuma.Pantai.

Sayang sekali, kami bukan penikmat keramaian. Yogya begitu meriah, penuh sesak sepanjang Jalan Malioboro dan Jalan Solo. Suasana hiruk pikuk mereda selewat jam 1 dinihari.

Jember 21 Jember 22

Tanggal 1 Januari 2016, Tahun Baru, jam 05.05, kami memulai perjalanan pulang.

Four-of-us…oops now five-of-us love desserts, almost any kind, from the most simple ones up to the fancy and need-a-special-skill-to-make ones, in taste and look.  We enjoy their sweetness, softness and freshness. Once in a while my girl makes simple puddings in between of her crocheting activities, and usually it would not be long lasting in fridge 🙂

A journey

IMG_20151010_100905_-370005576

Thursday, 7th March 1985 was the most historical day for my family. It was the day we –my husband, Hendra, and I- meet for the first time, in my office, in Pinangsia area, and ‘Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You’ was the hit song during those days, played by every music store around there, and we then undoubtedly declared it as our anthem… J

 I was a last-semester-student at Tarakanita Secretarial College who worked half day in a private company and he was an employee at a leading group of companies. The meeting was verily for business, and actually we got a problem that time. Later on, I had learned and gratefully understood that the problem was a fragment of our life scenario designed by The Lord. Since the problem had just being solved in the evening, I could not attend the class that day. As I made up my mind not to go to campus, he offered to drive me home. By chance we have the same route to go home, you said so. And the love story began here ❤

img1444325445941

Our journey was not always easy from time to time, particularly during the first months. My parent needed time before sincerely accepting him as their daughter’s husband-to-be. The other challenges were coming from our personal situations. However, as we believe that God would never give us anything we can’t handle, our faith says that all will be well in the end.

Sunday, 9th October 1988 was our wedding day. We were so happy in homeliness. My soul was singing, my heart was rejoicing, my mind was ebullient. Our love story continued stepping forward to the true family life.

Sunday, 3rd December 1989 we welcomed our darling first baby girl, Natasya. Blessings flow into our lives, we feel its beauty in the deepness of our souls.

Sunday, 5th January 1992 our sweety second baby girl, Jovensya, was cheerfully coming into our lives. A wonderful love is here, in our family life.

Meanwhile, our works were running well. Each of us were in good working atmosphere.                   Our big grateful for all the beauties we have been given. God is so kind. He completes our joy, one by one, not at once altogether, so that we can feel the beauty of every single blessing to the fullest.

Life goes on, children are growing up, parent is getting older. It was not always easy, there were gravels, and in some conditions there were quite large stones that we found during our journey. But again and again, our faith says that all will be well in the end, and they indeed are.

img1444498501003

By end of year 2000, I made a precious decision, I resigned from my job. Had no problem at all, I was happy with my job. My two reasons were, first, I want to be a mom-at-home, and second, I had a dream to realize. My soul is free, my mind is easy, my heart is happy.

Talking about home management, I think my husband would gladly agree that it’s been his wife’s business, but everyone who knows us well certainly noticed that he is always ready to help and support in anything pertaining to the family.

Our children have finished their college in 2012 and 2014 and straightly got their job afterward. God is good, all the way.

Last month, 13th September 2015, our darling baby, Natasya, married her college friend, Ongky. Currently, they live in Nottingham, Great Britain. Starting off their own family life, youthfully and cheerfully. We’ve been just counting our blessings, more and more every moment.

The day before yesterday, 9th October 2015 marked our 27th anniversary. No celebration party, no whoop-de-do. I am not a party enjoyer, neither is my husband. Being allowed to be grateful for the blessings is more enjoyable for us.

Experiencing all that wonderful blessings, what else shall I do other than being grateful?  Eventhough my thanks never be enough, gratitudes make me feel how precious I am in the eyes of the Lord, so He delivers His blessings into my life.

Along 27 years of our journey, joys and lessons come and go, excitements and disappointments frequently become a determinant point to our next purpose. Being a couple, there have been many times we are not in the same view corridor. Being a parent, there have been moments in which we are not fair enough in giving opinions to our children.

After all, I thank God for having set up our first meeting on 7th March 1985, for having given me a husband who didn’t mind when I said I wanna resign from my job while I was in good position;  a yoke-mate who is always here to support my ideas, though sometimes I know it was him the only one who doesn’t mind with my pixilated idea; a partner-in-crime when we have to fight against the harmful behaviour; a loving soulmate when we are taking care of our children, a friendly spouse when I am having a gathering with my friends.

27 years of love journey, grateful is the source of our happiness.

October Nine – a poem

C360_2015-10-08-22-27-57-408  IMG-20150913-WA0007

On this very day, twenty seven years back

The Lord has forwarded His compassionate commands to us

We were being united, and should always be

We were blessed, and will always be

We were given the ability to be together, and have to remain do

October nine, twenty seven years back

We attached our souls, hearts and minds to build our blissfulness

As we were walking down the aisle, we assembled our faith for never being apart

As we were kneeling before The Lord, we believed that He sets our life steps

As we were taking a bow in gratitude, we truly grasped that He will always here for us

Today, October nine, two thousand fifteen

Here we are, keep falling in love and living in love

Growing up in age, maturating in attitude, increasing in member

There ever happened misapprehensions, and angers as well

But The Lord’s greatfulness and compassionate have always been there to fix all the erroneously

My soul is singing, my heart is rejoicing, my mind is ebullient

Grateful is the source of our happiness

There was a time on your wedding day today

My thoughts had wander far into the years back

When I brought my baby girl home, hold her tight as hugging my soul

It seems like only yesterday

I used to smile watching you play with your cute dolls

and delightfully showed your funny doodles to my friends

Through teenage years, you set your steps

And my little girl became my best friend

We’d browse the stores, try on beautiful dresses, for hours

I’ve been so happy as you always made your decision after asking for my opinion

How fast the years have flown…

Today I’ve witnessed your marriage ceremony

In your lilywhite bridal gown, you had become a gracefully gorgeous young lady

As you were walking down the aisle, my heart was so full of pride

You will always mean the world to me

All the memories made of pure gold

My love for you flows in rhythm of my breath

I wish God blessings to come your way, always and forever

Start off our day right

Breakfast 12

As far as I can remember, it was rarely for me to miss breakfast. This also applies to my family. We always have time for breakfast, either at home, in office, or getting some snacks from the food stalls on the way to work.

How necessary breakfast is? For me, it is so necessary, because if I didn’t have breakfast, I would feel something less during the day. This feeling could make me less than optimal in working. I might become somewhat lazy and slow. My hubby and children do feel the same way. That’s why we put breakfast as an important thing. Another disadvantage thing mostly in my concern was skipping breakfast could set me up for overeating later in the day. While on the other hand, a healthy and adequate morning meal, can give me energy, satisfy my apetite, and very helpful setting my steps for smart decisions all day long.

From John Hopkins Bloomberg School & Public Health’s website, I found a good article about the benefits of breakfast. Here I copy-pasted the related part of the article:

Why You Should Eat a Healthy Breakfast

  • Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  Breakfast provides you with the energy and nutrients that lead to increased concentration in the classroom.
  • Studies show that breakfast can be important in maintaining a healthy body weight.
  • Hunger sets in long before it’s time for lunch, but because it’s not convenient to eat properly, many people who have not eaten breakfast snack on foods that are high in fat and sugar.
  • People who skip breakfast are unlikely to make up their daily requirement for some vitamins and minerals that a simple breakfast would have provided.
  • Breakfast provides energy for the activities during the morning and helps to prevent that mid-morning slump.

And here are some of my favourite breakfasts. I’ve taken the benefit details of each from several sources of health.

Breakfast 11

Oats contain beta-glucan, a type of fiber that’s been shown to help lower cholesterol when eaten regularly. Need another reason to dig in? Oats are also rich in omega-3 fatty acidsfolate, and potassium.
Steel-cut oats, which take about 15 minutes to cook, contain more fiber than rolled oats or instant varieties, but any type of oatmeal is a healthy choice. Just avoid the flavored kinds, which can be packed with sugar. Instead, sweeten your bowl with milk and a bit of honey, and top with fruit and nuts.

Berries are superfoods because they’re so high in antioxidants without being high in calories

Strawberries are good for your ticker, too. A 2013 study found that women were less likely to have a heart attack over an 18-year period if they ate more than three servings of strawberries or blueberries per week. (Strawberries, like blueberries, are a good source of anthocyanins.)

IMG_20150715_113232 edited 4.jpg

Broccoli belongs to the cruciferous vegetable family, which includes kale, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, bok choy, cabbage, collard greens, rutabaga and turnips.

Grapes are high in antioxidants important for eye health such as lutein and zeaxanthin, and red grapes contain the phytochemical resveratrol in their skins, the antioxidant synonymous with wine known to lend protection from several chronic diseases and conditions. Grapes also boast the power of the flavonoids myricetin and quercetin which help the body to counter-act harmful free radical formation.

The potential health benefits of consuming grapes are numerous, with past studies associating them with prevention of cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure andconstipation.

Grapes are high in water content and good for hydration. High water-content fruits and vegetables are nutrient dense, meaning they provide a large amount of essential nutrients while containing few calories. Grapes contain 70 milliliters of fluid per cup.

An excitement as it is

ebf6e37e34d29c424afe88a259dd46ad

Last week I’ve visited the office where I work during the period of 1986 – 2001. The main purpose was handing-in my daughter’s wedding invitation for my boss and the other two colleagues. Yes, he remains my boss, never be an ex-boss.

There are not much change on the office situation, but quite a lot of new faces that I did not know before.

I spent about three and a half hours there, mostly time had a talk with my boss. We talked about many things, from the matters that I used to take care of until the issues that I have ever heard a glance as well as the latest ones that I didn’t know yet. I enjoyed the moment, it was not like a secretary talk to her boss or otherwise, talks was flowing smoothly and relaxed like between friends. Family was one of the most cheerful topics, besides the achievements and the dreams that were to be realized. In several occasions I have also asked for his suggestion and opinion on the matters pertaining to small businesses like the one I run currently, and preferences on advanced educational plan for my children.

In short, our talks turn from one to another topics and then back to the previous one…it’s a pretty long list.

It was almost 4 pm when I said that I need to go home, after having taken three hours more of his time. Happy I am to hear that he was arranging no appointment with others that day, as he accepted mine… hahha…*feeling a bit flattered

Before stepping out of the building, he still had time to briefly show me the newly renovated showroom and a newly converted small meeting room, and then ensured that he and his wife will be attending my daughter’s wedding reception.

In general, it was a light talks between two persons who had once work together, but the truth is, I can enjoy every single topic, hopefully there was also some good things for him.

Speaking honestly, he was not a so very, very special person to me. He is the owner of a group of companies with pretty much employee of all levels. Besides the policies that make his employees feel good, he, like all bosses, also has demands which maybe a little difficult to be carried out by several people. In some cases, I have also ever dissented with him. But in fact, by experiencing such situations that is somewhat not easy, he implicitly gave me chances to learn a lot of good things; how to handle people with different mindset, how to keep holding my opinions and values in good way, how to convey an argument in good manner. In another chance, he let me making an inaccurate decision of which I regretted a while then, but the next moment I learned what is an accurate decision truly meant.

Sometimes he was acted somewhat uncompromising, just in the next days I understood that he was in a bit difficult circumstance that would not be beneficial to be shared to me, here I learned how to understand people and the need to stay away from others personal problems.

He had a few times, not often, asked me to assist addressing his family matters, and I was happy doing it as I got the useful knowledge and experience.

One important thing that makes me feel more than comfortable working for him is that we have a same religion. I am not a very religious person, but being in the same faith path with persons whom I work with is a precious joy for me.

So, plentiful thanks to you, my boss 😀

Do not get annoyed just because I like to clean up my house

7 front terrace

For some people cleaning up house would waste their working hours, meanwhile for me, to work in an untidy house may cause my works is less than optimal. It’s better for me to take some 2-3 hours to clean the rooms and do the daily works before I sit working on my job. Being in a clean house, I feel comfort and can be more focused doing my works. When my house is clean and stuffs is stored neatly in its place, I can complete my works one by one, faster. There is a sense of calm that I couldn’t feel when my mind was still thinking about bedrooms that are still unmade, bathroom that is not yet dry and clean, kitchen that is still a mess, or that I haven’t yet take care of plants.

Tidy room tidy mind

The tidy rooms with things organized, make me easy to find the goods I need. Put the goods back to its place right after using them, is one of the must-to-obey-rules in my house. Some other rules are: never leave the bedroom before making the bed, do not let many clothes hanging, do not eat in the bedroom, avoid the crumbs to fall onto the floor, always clean up the stove and kitchen after cooking, never ever put the towel –before or after using it- on the place it is not supposed to be, do not wait until tomorrow morning to put the shoes and sandals back in the shoe rack.

Looks like too many rules in my house, but as we have been taking it as a habit, we do not feel weighed down doing it. Instead, we do feel homey being at home.

I have been applying the ways of living clean since I was a teenager when I lived with my parent. After getting married and live in our own house, I asked my husband to accompany me creating a clean pleasant home. Of course, it didn’t instantly work bang-up, but it didn’t take a long time either. Then, when two lovely girls coming enliven our lives, we teached them how to make us feeling homey in our dwelling. The result is quite got me excited, among their friends, they are known as tidy and orderly persons, just exactly their mama 😀
